A collection of artworks by Anna Kõuhkna

“Dear Shadow, Dear Light” is, on one hand, an album showcasing the best of Kõuhkna’s work; on the other, it is an artist’s book that reveals the author’s worldview and evolutionary arc, summarizing an era in both art and the artist’s life.

These lives are explored in the book through an extensive interview (conducted by Lisete Velt), which seeks to connect the inner and public spheres of both the work and the author. A reflection written from an intriguing perspective by Kõuhkna’s sister, art curator Liisi Kõuhkna, adds a biographical dimension to the whole. The work was designed by artist and Kõuhkna’s close colleague Merike Tamm. In the final section of the book, we can read interpretations of Kõuhkna’s works from a male perspective, provided by Joonas Hellerman. As Kõuhkna is also well-known abroad, all texts in the book are available in both Estonian and English.
