Siim Hanikat studied at the Open Academy of the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School of Tallinn University. Primarily depicting female figures, these works represent the artist’s experiments with various materials and tools at different stages of the creative process, ranging from pencil drawings to graffiti. His works are intriguing, colorful, and vibrant. The viewer can sense how he seeks beautiful motifs and angles to transform into physical objects. His drawings are dominated by bold colors which, combined with deep black tones, often create a poster-like effect. One might sense that the vibrant female figures do not wish to convey a final truth – they are neither happy nor sad. They simply inspired the artist on the day the work was created. The artist has hidden messages within the works; these small, concealed messages give the pieces a new personal dimension.
